From the outset, we get straight to work to handcraft the best product possible for you. You will quickly receive all the necessary information to start you on your autobiography journey. Take a moment to learn about our process, then begin the journey today!
As you start your project you will receive a welcome pack containing a letter from founder Roy Moëd and a copy of The LifeTime Journal.
This journal is designed to mirror your finished book and demonstrates how your own book will look and feel. It describes what you can expect in the next couple of months. It is also an excellent tool for prompting memories and jotting down ideas before and during the interviewing stage.
Your project manager is the glue that holds the project together. As your main point of contact, they will ensure the project runs smoothly and your autobiography is everything you could wish for.
The project manager will remain in regular contact with you so, rest assured, you’ll know what’s going on at all times. If you have any questions, you can contact your project manager at any time. This constant contact will give you peace of mind, allow you to relax and enjoy the experience, whilst knowing that the project is in an expert’s capable hands.
Once we know a little bit about you, we will choose an interviewer who matches your particular needs. All of our interviewers are cultured, good listeners, personable, patient, and open-minded. We ensure each interviewer has an impeccable background and is skillfully trained. We do ask for patience as, in some instances, this matching process can take from two to eight weeks.
Once we have found the right interviewer for you, your project manager will provide contact information to both parties so the first interview can be scheduled.
The interview process is not just a series of questions and answers. It is an in-depth conversation that covers the most critical moments of your life. Your interviews will be conducted face-to-face over video conferencing.
However, the interviews also serve other purposes. These include the project’s setup (interview 1), and reviews of the text created throughout your LifeTime Private Autobiography project (interviews 3 and 9). During the interview process, your project manager will listen to the recordings and offer feedback to you or the interviewer to improve the process.
At the end of the interview process, you will have two further meetings. The first of these is your Main Review – an in-depth review of the content and your chosen photographs. Final changes can be made at this stage as you wish. The second meeting includes your Audio Highlights Recording – a 60-minute recording of you personally reading your favorite stories as captured in your autobiography.
Just as we’re careful in choosing an interviewer, we are equally attentive in selecting the most appropriate ghostwriter to bring your story to life. Each of our creative ghostwriters has the unique ability to put themselves in another’s shoes, allowing them to capture the author’s “voice.”
Our ghostwriters welcome any feedback from you and your editor so that your autobiography is exactly as you want it to be. Don’t forget to discuss with your interviewer any ideas or alterations you may have so your ghostwriter can make the changes accordingly.
Your LifeTime Private Autobiography editor is there to analyze the working draft so the finished project is free of mistakes. Your editor will ensure that spelling, names, stories, etc. are clear and consistent. The editor will also flag any areas that may need a little more information from you or reworking by the ghostwriter.
Once you have answered any questions from the editor or ghostwriter, you can then focus on whether the tone of the writing truly reflects your personality.
We believe it’s special for friends and family to be able to hear your voice telling your stories. That’s why included in your LifeTime Private Autobiography project is a recording of you reading your favorite stories from your autobiography.
Recorded at the 12th meeting, your USB MiniBook drive contains your 60-minute audio recording and all your photos which have been carefully restored by us for printing purposes. The USB drive is enclosed in a beautiful presentation case for you to enjoy and share.
Once you have provided approval for the text and photographs, your book will be assigned to one of our award-winning typesetters. The typesetter is responsible for the visual layout of your book. With careful precision, the typesetter will make sure the text flows from page to page and can be easily read. The typesetter will also incorporate the photos that you have chosen, either at the end of each chapter or as a section in the book.
You can feel confident the typesetter will produce results that surpass our rigorous aesthetic standards.
Before your book goes to print, a fresh pair of eyes will look over the final product for any errors. A proofreader’s job is different from the editor’s, who reads the text carefully for sense, as they instead concentrate solely on ensuring your book’s grammar and spelling is perfect and that no errors have been introduced during typesetting.
Due to the care taken by the typesetter and proofreader to ensure a perfect product, it is not possible to add or remove large sections of text at this time in the process. That is why the Sign-Off to Typeset meeting is so important.
Once the proofreading process is complete, you will receive a proof of the pages so you can evaluate the text layout, photographs, and captions. Once you are pleased with the look and content, we will move it on to the final, exciting stage: printing.
We entrust the task of printing, stitching, and binding your book to specialists skilled in both traditional and modern printing methods.
The bookbinders use a long-lasting and high-grade archive paper. They will then craft your custom cover with your chosen linen or leather, and embossed lettering color combination. This artisan process takes place on the outskirts of London, England and can take up to three weeks.
As soon as they’re ready, the books will each be placed in a gift box and carefully packaged before shipping directly to you and the loved ones of your choosing so that everyone can start enjoying, sharing, and treasuring them.
